Negative past effecting the present watch

I am currently with my boyfriend who I've known since year 7 but we only started dating in year 10 and since then we have faced a lot together and experienced more a less everything together, anything ranging from he was the first person slept with to he was there o support me through my first experience of a funeral when my nan passed away almost 1 year ago.
However, it hasn't been all rainbows and blue skies so basically the 'honeymoon' period there was a time we took a drastic break due to arguments which led to numerous mistakes and mess ups.
We have been trying to put things behind us and move on, but I am constantly reminded of my negative past which is making my boyfriend feel as though I don't care about him when I do, does anyone know a way forward on how I can forget my past and maintain the so called 'honeymoon' period again?
