Brainwashing. They've been brainwashed to believe left wing politics = communism and is therefore evil, yet struggle to comprehend that the current system, corporatism, is far worse for them and is actually pushing towards a path to further monopolisation, corporate slavery and debt entrapment.

Most of these apparent know it alls have never experienced life in a left wing country and if they'd speak more to people who have:

    1) Old Labour voters - the older generation in the UK for example

They'd realise that 'the good old days' isn't just built on a foundation of nostalgia, but a foundation of wanting a Britain that is morally much better off, a Britain that puts people before profits.

The current system in the UK is the most corrupt of the lot and worse than communism. It is not socialism. It is not true free market capitalism (even Dan Hannan will testify to that) and it is more equative to communism than these idiots even think. The only difference is, rather than get given a house, given a job and given food by the government, they have to now work and be exploited to get those things by corporates who have monopolised the markets to their own ends, stifled competition and want to push people further to the bottom. The middle class in the UK over the last few decades has been pushed further and further towards the bottom and inequality is right up, child poverty rates are disgusting for a 'first-world country' and people are glassing one another, stabbing one another and crime is on the increase due to those very divides. But, its all okay if you live in a gated community in a suburb away from all those ills I suppose.

As is typical with TSR, this forum is full of idiots who think they know but actually don't know as they've never experienced it. Its akin to a virgin telling you what sex feels like. In reality, they've never experienced it so they don't actually know and their stance is laughable.

I'll listen to the older generation who more often than not know a lot more than us because:

    a) Wisdom from life experience obtained
    b) They've lived in left wing and right wing Britain
    c) They often just want the best for us as their days are coming to an end

We ignore them and think we know better than them due to pure arrogance. More often than not, the older generation know more than us.

Its not brainwashed, that far left=communism, its literally did mean that to many of its own people. The far left used to be comprised of groups like the international socialists, now the socialists workers party. Its a communism in the sense it grew out of Trotskyism. That was a movement within the far left of the labour party in the 60's and into the the 70's. They at various levels agreed with the theories of Leon Trotsky and opposed socialism in one country model. The aim was to spread the his theories of Marxism beyond the USSR. The far left has for obvious reason always been associated with communism because for much of the 20th century that a credible far leftist position,

Labour isn't a far left party as a whole though, and the main reason elements like the international socialists had to work under the umbrella of Labour was lack of support and outside of it. Labour is a centre left party, democratic socialist, but neoconservatism and its variants being born in the US, is still very hostile to leftist movements. Someone like Corbyn is not really a far left in any sense, his positions would be unremarkable in most of Northern Europe.
