Regretting breaking up!

I broke up with my bf a week and a half ago because I've been going through a crisis this term at uni and felt like I couldn't deal with anything.

He's really hurt: didn't see it coming at all.

I'm really hurt and have been in floods of tears.

He reacted by withdrawing- is ignoring and avoiding me and refusing to talk to anyone, even his friends.

Have realised that I've made a mistake. Miss him terribly. Wish I could take it back.

How can I approach him? Should I do it in person or write a letter? Is getting back together and telling him that I've made a mistake and not realised what I had until it was too late still a viable option? My friends seem to think that space and time will heal it and I should move on, but I just miss him terribly :frown:

Letter. And make it hand-written, not just typed.

It shows you're taking time to tell him how you feel and it's not just a case of "oh, sorry by the way, let's get back together".

It shows that you realise you made a mistake and that it wouldn't happen again.

That's what I'd do, anyway. I've always thought a hand-written letter means more than a text, e-mail or typed letter.

Seems like you have made a mistake. I would personally try and speak to him but since he has become very withdrawn, that could be very difficult. Writing a letter would show you care, that you put an awful lot of thought into it, much more than you would put into a text or email.

I hope things work out for you
