I've done a bit of snooping around on the web and found two methods of paying the bills. A tenant will volunteer to be the leader and pay the bills using an account set up and the others pay direct debit into it. Obviously, this means that if one of us decides not to pay, it's basically tough sh*t.

Another is to split the water, broadband, gas, electricity etc. amongst each other, so one person pays one bill, the other pays a different one. But this isn't fair since water is cheap and electricity is incredibly expensive.

    What other methods are there?

When you split the bills up the point is that you all pay each other. So if Harry is in charge of water he will ask everyone for money for the water bill, whilst Ron asks for money every month for gas and electricity. Of course someone could still not pay someone they are supposed to.

The only alternative to those two options above is to use a company like Glide or Split the Bills- they chase up each person individually however they charge a fee.

Thanks! This is a great help, I'll see what the others think of it.

Or if you really want, draft a contract and get everyone to sign it.
