i would suggest (this is what i did with my epq) to pick a general area (maybe a certain time period or something - i have no idea about paleontology sorry!) then start researching and as you research you will get more ideas of actual questions you may be interested in!

Can you be more specific? Which area interests you the most? Are you looking to do an essay or artefact?

I did my EPQ on a paleontology topic, researching whether the asteroid theory provides the best explanation for the extinction of the dinosaurs at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary. Perhaps you could do something similar, like researching which is the best theory to explain the Permian-Triassic extinction?

Do you have any particular paleontology topics in mind which you'd like to focus on?

I'm considering something to do with how prehistoric creatures like dinosaurs are presented in the media, in films like Jurassic Park and Godzilla and how this distorts society's view of them

That sounds like a decent idea, although ideally you'd need to phrase it in a question that you can argue for and against, with evidence for your arguments, in your essay. So perhaps you could have a question like 'To what extent, and in what ways, does portrayal of prehistoric creatures in the media distort society's view of them?'
