I am thinking of taking the AS physics challenge next year and was wondering what we are expected to know as we will not have completely finished our AS course by that date.

It covers knowledge from the AS level of all exam boards. The style of question is very different though and the amount of knowledge required isn't much compared to the emphasis on problem solving ability. I'd recommend looking through the specifications of other exam boards and reading ahead within your own so that you have at least some understanding of all the topics. From my experience I never came up against anything I wasn't familiar with.

If its what I think it is as I took this challenge last year you are not meant to know anything. You will get questions on stuff you haven't learnt, one of the questions I had was to determine how balance a shape was on a slope given some symbols. But yeah as I said that's what I did so not sure if its the same.

I got a Bronze 1 last academic year so... not the best but better than anyway else who took it in the same year as me (best out of about 10 people.) A lot of it is time-constraining and having to make educated guesses. We tried a few past papers before the time so that's what I recommend you do to. I don't know if they're readily avaliable online if they're not you might want to ask your teacher
