Hi, I'm reapplying for university through UCAS this year. I decided to retake in order to get better grades & go to a better university as I didn't like my A2 grades. I will update my personal statement slightly, but will I need to completely change it for a reapplication? Furthermore will I have to add anything different as to the nature of why I'm retaking? Or will my sixth form deal with that for me?
    Thank you,
    Ozzie.

UCAS will pick it up, but when they look into it they know you have applied previously, so it's fine.

You don't add anything negative to your personal statement. Your referee should/may explain in the reference.

It's generally advised to rewrite but as has been said before it won't be a problem. Let your referee talk about why you retook only if it's necessary. Otherwise focus on what you've done in the year to prepare for uni and make sure your PS is still relevant, is positive and flows well.

Completely agree with the above. I'd probably add something else (if you have the space) just to show that you did do something in the extra year but I don't think it's completely necessary.
