I've finished A-Levels and I have a place at MMU for Ancient and Medieval History and I'm grateful to have been given a place. I wasn't and still not so happy with my A-Level results. I'm really confused about whether I want to do this course at this uni OR take a year out and work OR take a year out and do au pair work in America OR do another year at college and do better with my grades and it is just messing with my head, mainly because friends and family are pressuring me into answering THE MOST dreadful question: "What career are you going to get out of that?" Please help.... I'm so desperate and confused and lost and lonely.

Are you happy with your current place at university?

I was in a similar situation, I had a decent place but I wasn't happy with my results. I've decided to defer entry and retake some exams during a gap year. This way I don't lose my place at university and don't have to go through the stress of reapplying but also get better grades too. Maybe something you might want to consider too?

I don't know if I am or will be happy, my brother told me he was in a similar situation as well when he got an offer from UCLan but he eventually came to enjoy it and love it... I just know that I should be really happy and excited now though shouldn't I? I don't want it to be like something I have to force myself to like.... Did you do the same course at the same uni?

Yeah I applied for chemistry and got the same course in clearing. I had to come to terms with the fact that it wasn't my first or second choice (I didn't apply there at all) but I figured it is still a good uni and I will be happy doing the course. I did consider reapplying but it wasn't worth losing my place over; the places I would have reapplied to aren't actually that much better than the place I have so deferring was the best option for me

Im in the similar situation. Im currently looking for a full time job as a care assistant, but im gonna stay at uni until i get a job. Don't wanna drop out and sit at home - depresses me. Im gonna do an access course into nursing next sept. Drop out - improve your grades or look for an alternative way of getting into your desired course.
