What is the difference between post, under and grad students? watch

    • Thread Starter

    Hey guys!

I'm in year 12 and I'm looking at courses to apply to - and it's some confusing stuff

What is the difference between post, under and grad students?

When you start your first degree / bachelor's degree / degree (same thing) you become an undergraduate. When you pass your degree you become a graduand until you go to the graduation ceremony when you become a graduate (except with some universities who write and tell you you have graduated but these are few and far between).

If you go on to do further study having got your first degree, that will be postgraduate study. The could be another degree, a master's degree, a PhD, a diploma or all sorts of things.

In any given university there will typically be loads of undergraduates going for their first degree and a fewer number of postgraduates following Masters or PhD studies.
