Colwick's not that far away, and I imagine it could be done by bus?

Wouldn't know, don't live in notts yet, thats why i was asking, lol.

Reply 181

colwick can be done by bus, buts its still quite a trek.

As for the parking problem, the roads around BGP are not residential only, so residents dont need permits. What the uni and UPP do is take down license plates of EVERy car. They then check that against their own database (as you're supposed to register your car at both the Uni and UPP, whether you are applying for a permit or not.) If they find out you're a student, they do something about it (warning letter etc) if they dont, then they still pass the details onto the council for them to check against the DVLA database.

Finally, about the international who parks his merc on salthouse lane. Not only is he asking for it to be scratched by the dosey cows who pick their little juliet up in what can only be described as a tank, he probably has applied for a permit, but coz UPP have given them all away, he's been told he cant have one

got my contract today after them sending it to the wrong address (After i'd corrected them the first time ) i'm in laurels, which is new-ish and near laundry and the visitor's car park

Reply 183

Reply 184

not really as laundry's a min of £3 when in halls it's £2.20...i'm doing my laundry in halls...

Reply 185

£3 for laundry? Its no wonder everyone thinks that students are dirty, its too expensive to wash clothes.

I've attached one - it's a bit hard to read but you should be able to make the key out.

What road does the hopper bus to the QMC stop on?

Got my reply today;

Flat 1, Room 4, Mulberries. Hear it's close to the bar :-)

Huzzah! I'm in Mulberrys too, but Flat 19, so top floor I'm guessing. Oooh, I'm so excited!
How many floors are there somebody? I may have to reasses my plan to do my food shopping in bulk (not good with stairs!).

Oh, it doesn't stop on Broadgate Park. The closest stop is by the History building on UP campus - it's really close though. See http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/about/campuses/documents/up-map.pdf for a map.

EDIT: and yes, the bus goes to Jubilee and round campus, not the QMC. The Rainbow 5 and 36 buses go to the QMC, but also cost money. You can catch them from the Salthouse Lane stop, just outside the front of the church.

Also, Mulberries has 4 floors - and Flat 19 is on the top storey. And, since the kitchens are the same as the kitchens in Laurels where I've been this year, please don't do your shopping in bulk! It is really frustrating when you have a flatmate who fills up half the fridge and freezer with their shopping, leaving you nowhere to put your own stuff.

There isn't one - you'll have to walk! It's not really that far though. The hopper buses only go to Jubilee campus. (And Sutton Bonington and St Peter's Court)

Within walking distance of Broadgate:
Beeston has a Sainsbury's, an Iceland and a Somerfield (next to the bus station). There are also some specialty food shops, like the chinese mini-supermarket on the corner of Marlborough Road, a few bakeries and butchers, and 'Mamaris' which sells assorted (usually european) specialties. And a Londis on Broadgate Park, and the SU shop on campus sell a limited range of essentials and ready meals.

There is a Tesco Metro in the Victoria Centre in town, which is accessible by bus. Also Marks and Spencers if you have money to burn. There is also an Asda somewhere in Nottingham, but you need a car to get to it.

What's so bad about Sainsbury's anyway? I find that most of the stuff there is reasonably priced and good quality (well, except for the 32p Basic's Cornish Pasty - don't be tempted to buy it)
