Accommodation Applications for September 2007/08 entry are currently not being accepted. We anticipate that the online application will be available from week beginning the 5 March 2007. You will shortly receive an Accommodation Brochure from our Admissions Office which will provide full details of the accommodation on offer and the application process. Our web information is also being updated to reflect the rents for 2007/08 and other changes.

Is there any accom that interests you?

No, I haven't got yet too. Only some booklets and maps after I got my offer.
My first choice for accommodation will be Richardson Road. St Mary's College maybe be the second but i'm not sure about it.

"We anticipate that the online application will be available from week beginning the 5 March 2007. " - however, it is not available yet as we can see. And today is March 8.

What can we do... just wait.

Edit: Oh, now we can see "that the online application will be available from week beginning the 12 March 2007". Maybe they are planning to change this date every week?

When the accom office gets into gear in the next few weeks you should get a pack showing accom options and a few other bits and bats including what to do on results day. Read through all of it, apply for your accom and put it in a safe location.

Well guy's and girls, iv just got back from Newcastle. had a look around the different areas that the accom is in but didnt get to see inside any of them. the tours that the uni holds dont really help me because they only go around the catered halls ( castle leazes ) and 1 self catered site ( Richardson road ) both of which I dont much like!

I checked out St.Mary's College and the surrounding area, not bad at all, little bit out of the way but the place sure does look nice and the rooms are larger than most other sites.

Checked out Bowsden court court too - quite far out and very hilly in parts, but the upside to this is the fact that it has en suite bathroom as standard!

so these are my choices - fingers Crossed St.mary's comes up first!

Should do, St Marys College is not as popular as other sites due to its location. When I walk back at night, its is pretty quiet, just be aware of your suroundings (although that applies to everywhere). I always tell people to walk back either through Castle Leazes or follow the 63 bus route, not cut through the council estates or the parks (follow the 36 bus route) and I have had no trouble at all. There seems to be quite a few chav gangs that hang around along the 36 bus route, although no incidents I have heard of.

Its about 40 minutes walk from the centre and 30 minutes walk to the centre, because it is up a hill.

really, chav gangs hey?

Dont sound too good. guess its only gonna be for a year tho until i move into private accom. So you live at St.Mary's? what are the flats like inside, looks great from the outside.

I was going to choose Marris house, but its a nightmare because of the extra cost for parking!

Well a group of people from what many would call "working class council estates". Newcastle has them, London has them, every town in the UK has them. Most are harmless, but its better to avoid areas that they are in rather than advertise your presence so to speak.
I've got somethign in the post about Accom, but it came from my application to N200 (declined) and not NN14 (Firm) but im expecting the same thing to come through again. Bowsden Court looks nice and peacefull, and i can also get some exercise done in the 2miles distance to the uni. How is the area between Uni and Bowsden? anyone?

Bowsden is in a quite area, bit hilly in places but literally 2 mins walk to the metro so not bad!

Does anyone know anything about Jesmond Road accommodation? I see it is now the same price as Richarson Road - 64.75 for a week. I hate when they raise the prices every year :/ 58 pounds was much better...
They changed everything in ncl.ac.uk site. So now we can see the latest prices for 2007/08.

Jesmond road must be new, I've never heard of it. As to the pictures of a room: Here's some pics of my room at Eustace Percy Hall at Castle Leazes (dont mind the mess I've been preparing my laundry and am sorting stuff out to go home ). The first one shows the room from the hall, second from when you walk in, third shows the room from the opposite direction with the door to your left, and the washing basin to the right, fourth shows the left side of the first picture, fifth shows the basin area (opposite the basin is a large cupboard). The rooms do vary quite a bit at CL though, some are bigger than mine, some have en suite, and some are smaller. Thank you for insipiring me to clean my room some what lol!
Ermmm I will try and get my St Marys room up in the next few days. I will try and get people to lend me pics of their room on Facebook
My room at St. Mary's for anyone who's interested...
[taken with my phone, it looks yellow, it's not as bad as it looks - honest]

I know someone who's room is bigger, they have a huge window on one side. I'll get some of the actual building or something if anyone wants them. Just ask

Looks nicer IMO than places like Ricky road - which always remind me of prison blocks from the outside when I see them.
General stuff:
I've had no probs with people hanging around late at night, I've walked back a few times and seen hardly anyone, but it's the same as anywhere, just be careful late at night. A taxi from the station costs about £6 or £7, buses take about 10 minutes, depending on traffic and which bus you get. There's a 15/16 every 15 minutes which goes straight to the uni, whereas the 36/63 go into the centre with a 5 minute walk at the end. But def. easy enough to get to your 9am lectures. A few shops on the same road, a Chinese or something, swimming pool, doctors, and library, with a Morrisons not too far away - I can walk it in 10 minutes, and there's buses.
Ummmm... Flat parties are common since it's out by itself but it definitely doesn't stop anyone from going into the centre.

Living here really isn't a bad thing, you get a decent looking place, lots of flat parties, bigger rooms than most places, it's cheap *shrugs* really don't see why people think of it as a bit of a **** place? :s:
