I want to take History as an undergraduate degree at university, but feel that something like economics would help me in the job market.

I don't want to do an economics degree, and I don't really want to do a joint honours (History and Economics) since I'm more interested in the juicy killing bits of history than the economics side.

Could I major in History and minor in Economics, or is a Major and Minor not different to a joint honours???

Are there any special requirements (in general)???

Joint honours is 50-50 in two subjects, a major-minor is unequal and is normally denoted by a 'with' - the split can be 60-40 or 70-30 depending on the uni. For a major minor with the majority in History, History A-Level would likely be a must, more competitive unis may ask for Maths or Economics especially if its split with BSc Economics.

Would the application be different, or do you just apply for History and pick it up when at the university?
