I'm starting uni this September and I'll be moving in this week. I've been allocated a flat of 15 people and we've all sort of "met" each other through Facebook and I'm just really worried because I don't seem to really get along with any of them that much. It's not like they don't like me it's just I think I don't have as much in common with them as they do with each other and we've got this group chat and tbh I'm just really left out of it. Every time I try to talk to them I feel like I'm just butting in and not really a part of things because they all have good rapport together but none of them do with me. I'm not at all outgoing and am more of an introvert so maybe that's why? I admit I'm quite guarded because of stuff that's happened over the years with friends. I think I would've been better off in accommodation with only 5 or 6 people as that wouldn't be so overwhelming for me. I just don't want to feel alienated for the entire year. I'd hate to be classed as the flat weirdo because I already feel like the odd one out being the oldest one by a few years.

I understand- I had the same thing recently, though not particularly with flatmates. I feel like I should be cautious giving advice on this since I don't know what you're like as a person and 15 is a big number (15?! Where are you staying? I've never known a flat could hold that many, I hope you don't have to share a bathroom...) but maybe if you can cook you could invite them to home cooked dinner on the first night? Food always works to break the ice. Or you could even just order pizza and spend the time sitting around. Even if you don't include yourself in the conversation, having brought the food as such a huge favour will most likely keep you in everyone's head and will eventually start conversation with you. Obviously some factors may change this around, but it worked twice with my brother, and that's what I'm planning to do this weekend (though our cuisine is rather unique which tends to pique interest, haha.)
Good luck on getting along with your flatmates!
