    -[-C-CH(CH3)-]n-

The n depending on the number of propene molecules added together.

    ok...

so would the emprical formulae for pTFE be:

    -[C2F4]-n ?

The empirical formula gives the basic stoichiometric ratio of the molecules in a compund. Therefore, 'n' is not needed.

    hmmm so [CH2CH(CH3)] for polypropene
    and [C2F4] for PTFE?
