Is masturbation murder? (scientific perspective)

Thought it was interesting....so, is it? From all bloody points of view btw seeing as angry mods found 3 threads (from 3 different perspectives) 'excessive' lol. Give your opinions from whatever your standpoint be it religious, philosophical, scientific etc etc. But please I encourage you not to biased in your opinion in relation to whether or not you actually do it. Btw, it doesn't mean murder in the strictest definition of the term, but from all different viewpoints. Enjoy the debate!

I don't honestly see how it can be described as murder, from any perspective, let alone religious.

Semen is a bodily fluid, just as spit, urine or mucus is. Surely, if you're going to class ejaculation as murder, then cleaning your work surfaces is also murder - you're killing millions of bacteria willfully. It's a bit of a rubbish reason against masturbation, really.

Good point, although, HenvY's comment was acually open ended. He may be being sarky and think that abortion is actually not murder and thus masturbation is similarly, not murder. :p:

mmmm yeh i think i might group them all under one open-ended perspective seeing as it's hard to stick to the specified point of view i.e. medical, philosphical and scientific lol. (There are 3 threads actually!)

erm i'm not a science guy as well but i thought that there must be a valid scientific viewpoint in attempting to answer the question! scientists correct me if i'm wrong and i'll definitely group all the corresponding threads into one so as to make everyone's life easier!

This is a pertinant point when it comes to the abortion debate because many people who oppose abortion see the destruction of the egg and anything later than the formation of that dyploid zygote as being quite literally murder.

The action of masturbation is never going to bring about the formation of a diploid zygote and so there is no potential for life.

This argument has particular force in my case, since, as a homosexual man, my sperm is in some senses pre-destined to never from a diploid zygote in any sexual activity.

So my answer is no, it is not murder - particularly in my case.
