    As long as you arent applying for Oxford (who focus a lot on gcses) then you should be fine

    Both matter but to most unis your A-levels matter far more.

    If you get A*s at A-Level only Oxbridge are going to be off-limits/truly affected. Of course, the likelihood of that happening depends on how much ground you have to make up from GCSE.
