I took the brave decision of moving back home to be closer to my gran and family. Most others have stayed in the uni city.

My job is actually demanding in the sense that I have to study hard qualifications at the same time (using evenings and weekends every few months to study) but I'd also like to have friends, and hopefully around my age.

Seems difficult as my firm is full of lots of older people.

I'm going to start college soon so I'm hoping there will be more around my age.

But how did you build a new social network after uni? I've never been a massive groupy person, but I've always managed to have one close friend at all the significant points in my life. Atm, I'm struggling to see how I'm going to find him/her because there are literally no natural avenues...

I think what makes it worse is that my company's offices are in a small town just outside London.

I could have written the exact same thing about myself. I suppose we've just got to keep trying and maybe push ourselves out of our comfort zone?

    I guess we will.

I'm pinning my hopes a lot on college (firm pays for me to study accounting exams) but I need to also not come across as desperate. But as you say, if you don't do anything, you can't blame any one. I don't expect to sit down and the world come running to me but at the same time, there are not many opportunities to socialise after uni in an environment where it's acceptable to chat to strangers and willingly befriend them. There's no freshers week again

I'm naturally strong-willed, I could probably go a couple of years without that close interaction but we're so young! Would be a shame not to be enjoying some socialising at this stage of life.

But hey ho, life's what you make it and I guess now's the time to put that saying to the test.

Do nothing, gain nothing. Do something, maybe gain nothing or gain something
