How many units are there? Which ones do we all have to do first in the exams? (AS level). Also, which unit are you allow to use a calculator in the exam?

    EDIT: I'm doing Edexcel btw

There are three units but the combination of the selected units could vary depending on your exam board. As much as I know for c1 calc is not permitted, c2 and s1 calc is allowed.

C1 is the only non-calculator module. Certainly this is true of OCR MEI and I am pretty sure is true of all other exam boards also.

You will study C1, C2 as part of AS maths, and C3, C4 as part of A2 maths. In addition, in the first year you will study one applied module from either S1, M1 or D1. Then in the second year you will either study one of the other "X1" modules, or the "X2" module corresponding to your applied module from A2.

Which order you are taught the AS modules will depend on your college, but I'd guess it will be C1 first, though if you have multiple teachers you might start off doing 2 modules.
