We're currently looking for some of our awesome members who are at uni to volunteer in our uni forums and become a community assistant. In this role you'll looking after your university forum on TSR helping thousands of students who are applying to uni.

The Role
We want The Student Room to continue to be a welcoming, friendly community. As a community assistant, you will be an active member of the community and take a pro-active role in welcoming and helping members, and assisting the community team by reporting content that breaks the rules. Community assistants within the university sections of the site are appointed to help with maintaining a particular forum of which they are an active and respected member.

What we look for in a Community Assistant
We look for members who:
  • Post actively in the relevant forum
  • Post sensibly and helpfully
  • Follow our site rules
  • Are friendly and welcoming to new members
Responsibilities

Day-to-day Tasks
  • Check through your forum and report any rule breaking posts to the community team
Fostering community
  • Continue to post in your forum, answering questions and helping members
  • Supporting students through the UCAS applicant cycle - from questions about open days, through to what's it like to study there, choosing accommodation and getting ready for freshers
  • Lead by example – show others how to behave and encourage them to be friendly and helpful too
  • Set up new threads sharing what uni life is like
Forum organisation
  • Keep your area tidy and organised by moving threads to the correct forums, merging duplicate threads etc
  • Organise the stickies and megathreads in your area
Benefits
So, why be a community assistant? If you love TSR and want to give something back, this is the role for you. You will be making a big difference by helping to develop the community and keep the forums clean and tidy.

Expectations
We expect you to post in line with the community guidelines at all time. This is a low commitment role so there aren’t any hard and fast requirements in terms of activity, but generally you should be around and checking your forum a couple of times a week as a minimum.

Support

You'll be supported by our unis support team, Puddles the Monkey and She-Ra and you'll be able to meet and chat with our uni CAs in our dedicated private forum.

Development

Love being part of the team? There are always opportunities to progress and join our support team. This is great starting place for you to get to know the team and understand what it's like to be one of The Student Room's volunteers.

Interested?
Head on over to our Uni assistant applications forum to register your interest.

Please note that we're currently looking for CAs in the current university sub-forums:

that's how it should be as it's a private forum - you can only see your threads.
