how can someone have the wrong brain i.e. a female brain in a mans body if gender is a social construct? they contradict each other because the social construct idea means theres no such thing as female or male brain i.e. all brains are the same

A good point, I don't understand why people believe gender is forced upon us by society when men and women are so different (though equal)

i think that a certain section of the brain is responsible for our perception i.e. who we find attractive and another for how we view ourselves regardless of our actual gender (although the actual gender does play apart and so does the environment of a person but its not as cruicial). a study showed female apes as infants would cradle a stick as a baby and look after it while the male apes as infants would swing from tree and fight, this shows that gender roles maybe genetic and natural. However this suggest there is a possibility for mutations making female apes want to fight or swing from trees. If we apply this too humans it could make them feel as if they are trapped in the opposite gender or that there sexual orientation is attracted to there own gender or perhaps they would be more tomboyish or camp. In short all brains maybe similar but the way in which they are wired depends on there genetics, environment, habits ect... ect... which can change alot about a person including how they view themselves. Im sure if we mapped out the neural network of the human brain and moved some neurons around we could alter peoples opinions and reactions to a certain extent!

I think gender is a social construct that is constructed around inborn, natural behaviour produced by genetic programming. Some parts of what we consider the male gender stems from social tradition, whereas other parts are what our brains have been told to do by our genes.
