As far as i was aware it was quite a bit more expensive than corsa's, polo's, getz, c1 etc...... like about a grand and a half more new.....?

Personally, i hate them.

My best mate has a 1.0 X reg. Its slow, the seating position is as if you're sitting on a chair and you're pushing the petals down rather than towards the front of the car if that makes any sense. I just could sit comfortably in it.

The 1.0 is noisey, underpowered and struggles in my opinion just around town.

Oh and apart from anything else? I HATE those trying-to-be-cool electronic dials in the middle of the dash, they're hideous!

Positives? It has lots of headroom? :p:

Small jap cars never seem popular, like the Micra probably just as hated on here, dpesite being a great car I wouldn't want one. It has zero cool image. At least soemting like a corsa/fiesta just has no image.

The Yaris's hot model is the 1.5l 100hp engine. Was that supposed to be a joke? Especially seeing as it's taller than the Corsa C with a funny wheelbase. The 1.0l must be a joke, and for the performance of them, which is of course scandalous, comparing the Yaris to other models proves expensive. BUT - it is a Toyota, you know previous owners would most likely have treated it with care whilst also being in the knowledge you drive a reliable motor.

Assess the 106, 206, Clio, Corsa, Punto, Swift, Fox, Polo, Saxo, C2, Matiz, Ignis, Yaris, Jazz, ZR, 200, Micra, Ibiza, Fabia - and this is not an exhaustive list; at least I have mentioned the majority now

I have a yaris and I can safely say that they are great cars.
Easy to drive and manouver, light- very light power steering.

For a small car, it is extremely spacious, both in terms of leg and head room.
Mine is very quick on pull away and accelleration.
Cheap for petrol (£20-£25 fills the tank)
Petrol lasts ages.

In response to what the guy a few above me said, Mine is actually very quiet, so maybe it varies from car to car.

The digital display is really good too because it means when you go through speed cameras you can go through at exactly 40mph (or whatever the limit is) rather than having to slow right down to compensate for a shakey speedo

Also the interiour is nice adn very comfortable- although im guessing it varies from car to car again, but I find the layout of the features really convienient- cupholders, CD & tape player etc.

Id certainly recommend them to anyone thinking about getting one.
Ive hd mine for almost a year now and still love it.

Before my yaris I had a nissan Micra- also good cars.

If you think you are doing 40 then you will be disapointed. Modern speedo's deliberately over read a few mph.

20 quid fills the tank from empty? i doubt it. whats the capacity? lol@saying the micras are good. good for a granny shopping maybe, but by todays standard, they are ****, in my opinion.

People think that but it's not true.

yes it is.

Compare it with a sat nav then or put your car on a rolling road.
Of course its true. Do you have any idea how hard it is to accurately calibrate a speedo?
Im having my speedo recalibrated for my V8 conversion. Its a real pig of a job to get right. You need to calculate how many revolutions you get of the gearbox speedo pinion gear for every 6 revolutions of the roadwheels which need pressures and loading set as accurately as possible to get the results as true as they can be. Once you have that you can then calculate the TPI for the speedo end of the speedo cable.

It takes hours and hours to work out this data and its still not 100% accurate. It costs about £80 to have a speedo recalibrated and even then it wont be perfect.

I really wish people would actually do some research and provide some evidence to support their wild and inaccurate claims.

Yes but it's not wildly inacurate like you claim. If I go passed a speed camera doing 40mph in that zone it wouldn't flash.

Reply 12

I like the comment on how you say the steering is very light, what you really mean is it has no connection with the road, has lots of play and is vague.

Personaly I dont' give a stuff about power steering .

To be fair there is nothing wrong with the Yaris, they are just a bit of a girls car.

Well ive gone through at 40/30/50 (dependant on speed limit) before and never been flashed or anything

And to the guy who said the micras were good for granny shopping- I ment good in terms of reliability and ease to drive.

Meh Ive owned and driven one for a year and a half I know what they are really like even if People think they are for grannies! lol

& £25 fills my tank. Filled it up today.

What I mean is that It doesnt take alot of effort to turn the wheel/manouver.

Micra's are good, reliable Japanese cars. Many students get them as they are cheap to insure and nice to drive. A lot more reliable then small European cars anyway.

Typically 3-4mph out. I'd say that was highly inaccurate.
Given that a 30mph speed camera has a leway of around 3mph then you would have to see around 38mph on the dial before you were to get flashed.
You could go past with 35 showing on the guage and still be fine.

As the speed increases the guage becomes less and less accurate. At 150mph the guage could be as much as 8mph out.

It is you that makes wild claims. I have stated imperical facts based on evidence and not personal opinion or hear-say.

Reply 17

I'm not having a go at you, calm down. I was making a valid point which you dissagreed with, I've always go passed speed camera's at exactly the road speed and I've never been flashed. And that's in all the cars I've driven.
I never said you made wild claims, you twisted that bit. Now stop arguing with me.

Furthermore, a point is only "Valid" if is correct. ergo sum I am not arguing.
Im sick of people posting utter rubbish in this section without getting their facts right first.
Too many people seem unable to differentiate between fact and opinion and try to pass the latter off as the former.

I said the speedo being wildly inacurate not what you said.
