don't pierce it with a pin.

Go to the doctors, they'll give you some eyedrops that will clear it up in a few days. I used to get them quite a lot but I just left them alone and they'd go in about 4-5 days anyway.

Apparently the old wives tale that rubbing a gold ring onto it will clear it up even quicker and that it does actually work, but ive personally never tried it.

Doctors are shut now. Is there anything available from a Chemist ?

Reply 5

Is there an eyelash coming out of it?? -If there is, try pulling it out because a lot of styes are caused by infected eyelash roots and removing it will often make the stye go away!

Brolene!! Works wonders!! Smells funny though :P

Yeah, golden eye ointment or brolene ointment...available from a chemist. Get whichevers cheaper...theyre either exactly the same or practically the same. Dont get the drops though...you want the ointment which you can put directly on!

Get a spoon, and run it under hot water, then press the stye with it and try and squeeze everything out. That's the remedy I was told by my dad (who is a doctor).

the gold ring thing is supposed to work. also, are you sure it's a stye? i get blepharatis quite a lot which can cause a lump on the eyelid and swelling. when that happens, i usually use chloramphenacol eyedrops and hot compresses (flannel dipped in warm water held on the eye a couple of times a day). the eye drops tend to deal with any underlying infection that the compresses draw out, i believe.

buy chloramphenicol eye drops from the chemist, or take some warm water and dip cotton wool in it and then wipe it over your eye. Do that a couple of times. I get styes a lot myself, but thats cos I wear make-up and sometimes dont take it off properly before I go to bed, now i do though. hope that helps.

Reply 13

chloramphenacol is an anti-biotic so you'd use if you had an infection of the surface of the eye... but not if you just have a stye...

another home remedy:

pass hot water through a tea bag and then leave it to cool until you can put it on your eyelid. Same theory as with the hot spoon i guess: it draws the pus out and the stye disdappears!

I woke up with a stye on my 18th birthday :frown: omg i hated it: I used to look deformed when i got them :frown: </shallow>

What's Blepharatis  Can't get any eyedrops until tomorrow.
Will try the hot compress though.

pressing a hot flannel on it is supposed to work
my doc prescribed me antibiotics

warm slightly salty water on a cotton bud will reduce it and lessen itchyness etc.

according to m' ma. whos is a doctor- you could make do with that unitl you get cream.

Thye chemist will bw able to reccomend something after looking at it.

Yep, let the pharmacist take a look at it before you buy anything. Probably brolene or golden eye ointment is the best way to go, but they'll help you!
