Serious question: what is the role of lube in male masturbation?

Sorry if this is a weird question but it's been bugging me for a while:

I'm a guy with over 10 years of fapping experience but the one thing I've never understood is the use of lube or lotion for masturbation. I just don't get what it's potential use would be.

Everywhere I look, be it films, internet discussions, etc, they all refer to the use of lube for use in male masturbation.

I however just can't figure out what it would be used for, yet somehow I've successfully masturbated for over a decade.

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this? Or am I just the last person on earth who's been left out of the global fapping conspiracy and I've been doing it wrong somehow all these years?

Its something you don't need and the advertising companies just sell to you anyway because it makes them money.
It's for lubrication so that there's less friction and makes things rub more smoothly and feel better. I assume.

I'm with you on this. Never used it and can't understand why it's necessary to - if any guy is experiencing a painful amount of friction (and still has his 4skin) then I would advise him to slow the f*** down lmao.

I'm also aware some guys spit on their hand before doing it which is equally gross.

Circumcised penises need lube.
If one is circumcised or does not have much mobility in the foreskin, lube can help make things easier.

Even with adequate foreskin, reducing the friction can mean the longer it takes to reach critical point. The longer it takes, the bigger the outcome.

Friction? Friction how? And how would the lube help? Does one squeeze it underneath their foreskin or something?

This is just not making any sense to me...

Well I'm uncircumcised so guess that's an issue I don't have. But how does it make a difference?
Now that u mention it, it makes sense. Like whe n youre doing the fapping, doesnt it make sense to lubricate your hands so that its wet like a pussy?

Well I was foreskin mobility impaired for a while (i.e it wasn't until I was 21 that I found out the foreskin is supposed to actually go behind the head of the penis) but I'm still not getting it.

Also I've never heard of one trying to slow down the reaching of the critical point.

That doesn't make much sense to me. If you put lube on, it'll be harder to grab the foreskin and your hand will just end up sliding up and down the penis which is not what you want.

You apply lube to your hand and massage it in.

Friction from dry penis skin against dry hand skin. It is possible to get friction burns on the penis from too forceful or too long a fap.

Now hold on one porn-fapping second there: are you saying that you masturbate by sliding your hand over the foreskin and going up and down then? I thought (and have always done it this way) that one just grabs onto the penis and slides the foreskin up and down effectively (i.e in relation to your hand, the foreskin is geostationary and one's hand doesn't change position relative to it).

Is this really how people fap?
People who've had their dick mutilated (circumsised) use it because their head gets dry.

Without lube when you **** all you feel is the friction. Circumcised penises don't have the foreskin which reduces the friction feeling and is self lubricating in itself.

Probably feels better for uncircumcised dicks too as vaginas are wet anyway.

Umm... Trying too think how I can word this.

Have you ever heard of edging, whereby you stop just before you reach the point of no return, and then carry on again shortly after. It makes the final moment a more intense one than just a bog standard one.

It's a similar principle with just fapping with lube. You slow down the fap slightly and it makes for a better outcome than just normal... It's kinda like how when you get a HJ from someone else, they're likely to go at a slightly slower pace than you would, and even with no other activities can still lead to a bigger orgasm than what you'd experience on your own.
I agree, you don't really need it. The hand and foreskin are more than adequately designed so that there isn't some unbearable or damaging amount of friction. It's just a way for those companies to make money.

It all depends on the grip

I'm aware of the concept but not a subscriber to the philosophy. I have a hard enough time as it is finishing (well from a fap it's not too much of a challenge but with a girl it takes me ages to bust it out, sometimes I end up not cumming at all).
I thought it was to mimic the wetness of a vagina...

Seriously. Just try some and see if you think it makes a difference. No need to make changes to your usual thing, just see what happens.
