I thought Imperial and Aberdeen had good reputations for getting people into the industry, @Zottula might know better though!

I'm looking at going into geophysics too! At the moment I'm looking at:
- Imperial
- UCL
- Durham
- East Anglia
- Edinburgh
- Southampton

I'm not sure how good they are for the oil industry as I'm hoping to go into volcanology .-.

Imperial college has a particularly good course, and students get a lot of exposure to oil & gas companies.

The other stand out for oil & gas is Aberdeen. The upstream sector of the oil & gas industry is largely based in Aberdeen, so the networking opportunities are very good, and their employment rate is extremely high.

At undergraduate, any decent university is fine really. It's more about going somewhere you like with an environment that suits you, as well as getting internships/work experience etc. You'll find the real difference is if you do an MSc, as this is where the different departments vary more due to their specialisms. I know that for oil & gas Manchester and Royal Holloway also have good MSc programs.
