if you so detest essay writing whatever are you doing on that course? after having got the hang of it, i found essay writing to be a challenging, rewarding and, though difficult, even enjoyable experience. stop complaining and be happy that you are at a university which many would give an arm and a leg for.

I actually miss essay writing ... (does that make me slightly sad?). I haven't wrote an essay since June - Any skills I did have are long gone now.

When I look at a blank page, it doesn't inspire me. This is the only thing *sigh*

I just love finishing essays. It's gives me a warm glow.

Of course I'm happy to be here- I just hate essay writing.

Problem is history means essays, no matter where I go. Here I have more than I might have had elsewhere, but I can still moan about it! It would be nicer if I got some proper feedbck on them all, but heigh ho...

Me too! I absolutely hate it, which is somewhat worrying as I'm about to put myself through three more years of it. The thing that scares me the most is that I'm really struggling with my A2 Personal Study, and that's only 3000 words. I know that I'm going to have to deal that as standard once I get to university and even longer essays as well :frown:.

I have a sort of opposite problem currently. For my history personal study, I wrote out my main arguments, word checked it and it was 3900 words - with the limit being 3000 maximum, and I hadn't even done the introduction and conclusion. So I've spent a few frustrating hours cutting down 1400 words, it has been driving me mad, as I think it sounded so much better with them all in!

I think for me, the worst point with an essay, is planning. It's ok gathering the info, and great when you've finished, but the doing all the planning on paper can be so demoralising.

Yes I know what you mean ;no;

I actually spend too much time gathering the info - arrghh I need to learn to speed read

oh wow - you only have 3000 words?!? Mine has to be between 4000 and 5000 words max...

Yes, me too. I have to take notes, on everything.

Yes, only 3000 words :frown: I hate it! If it was 4-5000, I would have been fine, as I love writing it, so I hate being restricted.

In uni most essays are 2000 words and their a paiin to cut down.
I even have this module where I have these 500 words mini-essays to hand in which I hate as it is impossible not to go overlength

500 word mini essays

I don't like writing essays but I don't have a problem with cutting them down, if anything I check the word count every 100 words or so. This is probably because I only ever use the main arguments, with most essays you could write a book or several on the question so it's important to be aware of this and write the essay accordingly.

I don't mind writing essays sometimes and other times I wish I could do something else entirely. Today I have fallen into the second of those two categories. This does not bode terribly well for my deadlines.
I'm supposed to be writing two essays about Latin America right now.

Due tomorrow. It's supposed to be in total under 3,000 words. I've managed to exceed the minimum word limit (for the underachiever) with my prewriting. This does not bode well. lol.

edit: Score, 1,499 for the first one
