It's all in the eyes?

Ok girls this is one for you, I'm a guy by the way, so it could well be a pretty stupid question but still. When it comes down to eye contact would you say there is any hidden message to be interpreted from it or is it just one of those things that happen. I mean on numerous occasions i've found myself almost locked into looking into a girls eyes, even with complete strangers, quite unintentionally. So basically what does it all mean and what do you think when it happens to you???

Eye contact is a really important part of flirting... i think that if someone looks you directly in the eye and holds your gaze then they are obviously interested....

Sometimes people just stare. But the majority of the time eye contact happens for a reason.

Staring at someone, looking at someone and gazing at someone are all completely different. I make eye contact with all my friends when I talk with them, nothing flirty about it. I sometimes find myself wanting to stare at someone's face simply cus I find it artistically interesting (love drawing people and faces) and I can't quite help it, but doesn't mean I fancy them or even think that they're good-looking. My bf often tells me he can tell I love him by the way I look at him - I simply look at him differently. I gaze, and I beam when I look at him, when I see him. Now that form of eye contact would mean something.

Usually eye contact combined with body language, general behaviour and reaction towards you, laughter and tone of voice etc will give you a better indicator. Basically, you cannot rely on eye contact alone to deduce whether it means something

Someone's eyes are the first thing I notice and if they are holding my gaze intently or, alternatively, embarrassed and constantly lowering their eyes it does seem to be a positive sign. But, as Irisng said, it does matter what the rest of the body is doing.

I make eye contact to see if i can trust a person. Unfortunately, in England every single person breaks up eye contact with a smile, so I can't tell much from the eyes. In Russia it is normal to look a stranger in the eye for a few seconds - no need to smile. That way you try to determine if you can trust people around you on any level.

Yes, eyes are very important.

I make eye-contact if I'm speaking to the person and hold the gaze (otherwise I don't know where to put my eyes!) but that doesn't neccessarily mean I like the person.
