    Hi All

I went to vote earlier in the poll station and saw the list of candidates. I noticed there was a party called the English Democrats Party. It would have been nice to know them before because I could have had the opportunity to use them for my Unit 3 Government and Politics exam yesterday, ah well.

Anyone heard of them bofore? Shame they never got a word in my politics books. I was wondering if we had an English equivalent of Scotland's SNP and Wales' Plaid Cymru some time ago, since BNP and UKIP cannot count for obvious reasons.

They look like another populist/nationlist party. Is it just me, or is there a recent proliferation of new parties? UKIP (well that's not so new), English Democrats, Respect, Countryside Party (I got a leaflet from them, being in Dorset)... etc.

I guess they know that they have a better chance in these elections than Westminster? However, I would say that English Democrats are as nationalist as their Scottish counterparts. The English don't seem to advocate independence as much, just symmetrical devolution.

Yeh i heard about them just before all the leaflets came through for the postal votes in my area.
Any road i didnt vote for them as i feel it would be a wasted vote dispite they have sound economic ideas which parties such as UKIP need to start making public rather than being branded a 1 issue party.
Dispite that i still voted for them and there views dispite the liberal opposition are correct even though people are unwilling to accept it

I'd be very wary of them - apparently the founders are ex-BNP members.

English Democrats are the BNP with freshly baked flapjacks and a pot of tea.

True, but they are ex-BNP members who thought the BNP were too extreme, so some people may see them as a "nicer" extreme right.

Fortunatly, the right-wing vote is diluted by the presence of so many indistinguishable parties (BNP, UKIP, English Democrats), making it markedly harder for such parties to command any meaningful power. Conversely, it was the dilution of the socialist vote in France that led to JM Le Pen finishing second in the presidential race.

Are you mad? having more and more right wing parties is great as the more 'mainstream' two will have to alter their views as they realise there is a significant proportion of the electorate never mind the country who are nationalistic. This is nothing to do with being racist its just a case of saying enough is enough and lets start looking after our own

I think that it is quite alot to do with being racist.

I would never vote UKIP, BNP, EDP or any other right wing party.

I agree much more with savvy10. You are right, it is lucky that there is a dilution in the votes so that none of the parties can get any real grip.

it is inevitable that they shall gain power within the next 20 years.
It started with Enoch, he was proved right, The BNP were tainted with the nazi relationship. The events 9/11 was just a catalyst to rise of nationalism in the Western non muslim states. and with UKIP doing well in the recent election and the new generation of voters coming through, the majoirty of who, and dont lie they whoops we are. will be voting in the next general election on such anti muslim lines

He can't even spell, he's obviously an idiot. I don't attack you for being nationalistic, but claiming you embrace racism is deplorable. It's idiots like you that fuel hatred on scales your tiny brain couldn't even begin to imagine.

I've read their manifesto and I have to say theirs has more intelligence to it than the BNP's, IMO. Why is it that we have parties associated with racism etc (BNP etc)? You don't get it with Plaid Cymru or SNP....

Rotf my mum voted for them and she has no clue what they stand for. One day I'm going to point out she voted for the BNP 2.0. She's the last person on earth who'd vote for the BNP.

Too true why is ok 4 the taffs scots and even terrorists to have seats in the house of Commons but not British nationalists?
Why because being a white English nationalist is wrong, yet no one will say why?
and ofcourse i dont accept multi culturalism it achieves nothing but politeness. The British Empire, Roman Ottoman was not founded on such humanitarian precepts.
Now with it being the 'in' thing to be all loving to each ohter is seriously draining the economies of the world. when each country is left to its own that is the only way that it can fully prosper, look at China!
