Spots and such

I'm sure there are many threads of them but to be honest I can't be bothered to go scrounging around to dig them up, sorry but I'm in a lazy mood ^^
Basically, it's not a major problem with them I just dislike them. I use various facial products none of which seem any use. When I do use them it seems to make them worse so I dunno maybe it's a marketing skam.
Well anyway just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what they've used and what worked well for them.
All advice appreciated

Sorry to break this to you, but many over-the-counter products are as good as useless. I attach my sister's research on Oxy, Clearasil and tea tree oil's anti-bacterial properties; it was discovered that many of the ingredients (particularly in the first two and in others like it) are scents and other various useless ingredients.

I'm currently on tetralysal capsules + adapalene cream + benzoyl peroxide cream (all on prescription) which seem to be helping. However, this doesn't change the fact that I've suffered with spots for c.10 years - believe me, I've tried virtually everything that's available. Oxy = rubbish. Clearasil = rubbish. T-Zone = rubbish. Witch hazel and tea tree seem to have the most effect and even that is only minimal in my case.

Drinking lots of water always helps too.

Aye I use boots witch hazel and tea tree oil stuff most of the time, recently stopped to try the clearasil stuff and if anything made it worse.
Just try and stick to a healthy diet probably best ^^

Well I don't think it's bad enough to qualify for those pills where you need to have your liver checked every month and such, it's purely a visual thing.... and it is so tempting just to pop them, might be a tad sick but I find it quite fun ^^
I'm generally active, lead a healthy lifestyle and such. Lots of exercise and I do get good foods in me I just probably eat two much of the bad stuff aswell.
In a sense screw it I'm 16 I have time to recover ^^
Thanks for advice y'all have a good weekend.

#1 lots of water
#2 cut out chocolate [don't care if its supposed to be an urban myth - it works for me]
#3 cut out coffee [major cause]
#5 cut out oily stuff [no fried foods]
#6 eat lots of fruit and vegies
#7 wash your face with a facial cleanser when it becomes oily [this enourages spots]
#8 carry facial wipes with you

A good facial wash i use is: neutrogena - 3 times a day - clears it up well

Neutrogena 2-in-1 wash and mask, works a treat. It gets rid of the grease without making skin dry. I have been using it for like 2 years now. Wipes, clearasil, clean and clear, all that bumph just made me really greasy and so made my spots worse. I'd really recommend neutrogena, and also if your skin gets a bit dry, try body shop's night moisturiser, it doesnt make my skin greasy where as all other moisturisers do.

ooh yes! that product is brilliant!

hmm, I must try this neutrogena stuff...

I've done everything about lifestyle changes (although due to a different reason) - such as eating healthy, drinking at LEAST 8 glasses of water a day, and I exercise every day minus saturday. And nothing seems to work.

Think I'll give the neutrogena stuff a go though, thanks for the info

my skin was awful a few months ago, so i drank lots of water , i washed my face with very mild soap and the thing i found cleared my skin a treat was baby wipes. They made it lovely and soft cleared away any make up, and helped with the spots

try a cream called freederm. Its over the counter from boots and costs about 9 quid but it rele qorks. I used to have acne but after using the cream im now virtually clear. It helps reduce swelling and redness

I've tried freederm but found it to be not much use. Now I'm on dianette, which works wonders for my skin. (For those who don't know, this is a contraceptive pill so only suitable for girls!)
Does anyone know a good product/way to get rid of blackheads? Anyone ever had them removed by a facialist, and did it work?

I use clearasil and it tends to work really well for me. However, I do second the poster who said just used water as clearasil can make your skin greasy too if overused!!

Witch Hazel works for me... Used to have awful acne, now just have a few since I have been using this.

re: blackheads - having tried a ton of different pore strips and other facial products, I bought some pore strips made by Montagne Jeunesse (sold in Boots), priced at £1.49 for 3 (£2.98 for 6...a big improvement on T-Zone and Biore's £5.99 for 6!!!) and they got rid of loads of blackheads, was very impressed
