Ocr Biology Synoptic Paper

hey
i got this paper in june. This is the paper that i am not looking forward to doing. First of all i just wanted to get one thing straight, is that in this paper do we need to know everything from the last year stuff ( foundation, Human health and Disesase) and from this year A2 ( central COncenpts). And lastly wat is the best way to revise for this paper...as the paspt papers are pretty hard...so plz help needed coz i wanna get atleast a good B in this paper...

It is the paper that covers (almost) everything. Although, you can get a more concise speciifcation in the OCR Biology Specification under Unifying Concepts - it basically tells you what bullet points are covered.

Past papers are your best option no matter how hard they seem! As I'm resitting both Foundation & HHD, it should hopefully help with remembering things for unifying :s-smilie:

I'd attempt papers and see my weaknesses and target them?

i decided to retake HHD and Central Concenpts....so u guys thing its a safe thing to do...coz we need to know most of the stuff from CC according to the specification and this module will also help me in mammalian physiology....

hey, i did this module in january and got a B (84) so i jus scraped it tbh! erm, it wernt tht difficult but i spent most of my time revisin central and chemistry so i dint do too much practice for this paper hence my B. But im resittin in te summer..... its pot luck as to what comes up, lyk there wer jus random questions, ther was only one on HHD, none on foundation, and mayb one on Transport te rest was on central concepts..... altho, u do need to bring in knowledge frm te other mods

I think that if ure UMS is safe for Biology ie. you got 370/390 or whatever and only need c's or d's on the last two papers don't even revise for this. 60 marks = 60 UMS equivalent for something that will take you nearly a week to revise it all. Not worth it. Focus on your option unit and other exams and make sure you do well in the practical exam or coursework respectively because u only need roughly 105/120 usually for full ums. It is pretty easy to do alright on this paper e.g. 40/60 without even revising. I got 54/60 and didn't even look at the AS stuff for the Jun 04 paper.

Good luck

For this exam is there like a specification for it so that i will know what specific stuff i will have to revise for this exam cos i don't fancy revising like the whole of AS and the whole of the central concepts topic again!!! :s-smilie: If there is, does anyone know where i can get this specification from e.g. download it off the internet from somewhere?

Go to the OCR website they will have it. UC is mostly central concepts topics and foundation. very little transport or HHand D

On the OCR specification, which you can get from their website, there is a list (all bit it a quite extensive one), that lists all the topics that can be examined on the OCR synoptic paper. As someone mentioned, its 70-80% central concepts, and remember that nothing from ur optional paper (5) e.g. mamallian phys or genetics etc, can come up.

It's a different paper, because if you can naturally think and work stuff out, you'll find it a doddle, but if you like to learn facts, you'll find it more difficult. But as someone said, past papers and looking at mark schemes are always the best route for biology

i dont know if it helps..but its more about data and interpretaion, not knowledge. we've look t some questions and morals and ethics made a show too. :|
