Can I use old chemistry AS/A2 textbooks for new linear spec for exams being sat 2016?

Hi everyone,

OCR Chemsitry A

A relative gave me his old spec OCR Chemsitry A AS/A2 texts books

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chemistry-Student-Book-CD-ROM-Level/dp/0435691813/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1443280163&sr=8-5&keywords=ocr+chemistry

Are these still ok to use for the new linear spec for exams being sat in summer 2016 or do I need to the new textbooks that have been released for sep. 2015?

Thanks

hey, i'm doing the old spec so can't help you there bc don't know what changes have been made to the new one
BUT

keep the books and use them for reference
most of the stuff will be the same
check the spec, old against new if you're not sure about buying the new one but

you can't use one text book for a level, get loads for like £2 on ebay from like 2002, 1990 something just for reference
they're really good but make sure it's your exam board

good luck!

EDIT: if i did ocr A chem i woulda got this one : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AS-Level-Chemistry-for-OCR-A-Student-Book-CGP-Books-Good-Condition-Book-/151829410216?hash=item2359bcf1a8

Hey,

I'm currently studying A2 Chem (on OCR A, like you) and this year all of the A2 students at my college were given the As textbooks as well as the A2 ones, as the new students didn't need them due to the new spec (there are new textbooks).

Keep them, as they'll be useful for your reference, but don't use them as a guide for the things you'll need to know, as the topics are different - the old textbooks will contain some of the old spec's content, and miss out some of the new stuff.
I walked into an As lesson the other day and I had no idea what they were learning about! :giggle:

Hope this helps :hugs:
