From what i have gathered, there seems to be a 4.5 cutoff for each section. I think (havent got the paper to hand) I got 5.6, 5.4, 6.0. I got an interview request from them today!!

6.7 + 5.3 + 9
grrr I got 4.1 for section 2. Guess that explains it :frown:

Really wanted to go to Imperial though ... I was even considering retaking the BMAT next year!! Someone talk me out of giving up my offer to try again next year (cos that's very foolish)!!

no guarentee that u'll get it next year..so keep ur offer!

i wish they told us on their site rather than lying and saying they look at all aspects of teh application -which clearlly, they dont!!
True ... if I remember that a large number of applicants don't even get ONE place then it kinda makes me remember how lucky I am lol. Besides St. George's is great, even if Imperial do look down on it!!! :P
BMAT isnt as important as you think. I got an offer last year with 16.8 and a mate who is there at imperial now got 15.4.

Why dont you focus more on the other parts of your application that you do have control over, such as your Personal statement and reference.
I could do that but seeing as I've got an offer for medicine I should really go towards getting the grades  lol

lol clearly BMAT is important

i have 10A*s at GCSE, preictd 4As at A level tonnes of work exp etc and there cant be much wrong with my personal stat n referenhce cos ive had 2 interviews

seems like last yr they were more lenient with BMAT
this yr i doubt u'll find ne1 with below 4.5 in sections 1 + 2 with an interview

i gt 18.6 overall and ws told it ws 2 low..prob cos i got less than 4.5 in section 2
guess im just gna work rli hard 4 the BMAT next yr...
have you heard from Imperial this year?

This may be of somewhat relevance to this thread. When I went to the Imperial Open Day (February) they mentioned that this year they would be using BMAT to decide when you would be interviewed. If you had a high score you would get an earlier interview, so you know how well you have done compared with the cohort on the basis of your interview time-frame.

I don't know any specific cut-off points for the BMAT but I'm not sure if Imperial have one like UCL (19 ish). Might be something worth asking at the next open day if any of you go guys go.
My friend called me up today and told me that they have an interview and it's on 4th April, which is apparently the last one.
So I think maybe if you're going to hear, you'll hear soon.
I hadn't heard from them in weeks, and then they phone me up just to ask about the interview! Typical
my mate got 23 in his bmat... he has an immense record academically... like 100% A*'s, all A predictions. He is also one of the best extra curricular people guy ive ever seen.School guvnor, volunteered in Kenya, here, loadss of things. He even won young citizen of the year for his input to the community. But got rejected from imperial withOUT interview.
he got 4.4 in section 1. Probably the reason. I think the cut off point was 4.5 in section 1 and 2 this year.

Now surely that's unfair. Out by 0.1 of a score (why they would have a cutoff at 4.5 bewilders me as it's not actually possible to get that).

Your interview on April 4th?

Also, to tia, did they ask about the BMAT essay?

cheers

just looked at practice questions and last section where you have to write an essay is going to let me down. i can't afford expensive tutors either, do you need to use fancy words in last section or is delivering right message more important??? i don't know any fancy words
