Skinny and Weak

It's as the title says really.... I am a recovered anorexic and I know I have done a lot of damage to my immune system and digestive system. Im still only just over 7 stone and fed up of always looking so pale and feeling so weak. I'm constantly picking up bugs and things and just feel like it's all my fault and I never should have put my body through it in the first place. I suffered for about three years so im pretty certain that is what is causing my problems now. I am also a vegetarian. Basically I could do with some advice on how to retrain my body into health again- get my enery levels up, sort my digestive system and strenghten my immune system. I am also FREEZING cold all of the time and want to sort this out too. I would really welcome any suggestions on how to fully recover. And I am open to the idea of eating meat, if it will help. Thanks guys :smile:

Eat loads of carbohydrates to gain energy and also you do need meat for proteing. In addition, try and eat as many fruits as you can so that you get all the vitamins that your body needs.

Go to the Doctor and ask for advice instead of coming on here, you'll also be more motivated to do it.

I know this advice was in good faith, but i suggest talking to someone more professional, and don't overload your body as it might end up doing more damage than good.

I would also take any information from the web with a pinch of salt. The doctors would be the best option and might be able to get you on a routine to track your progress.

maybe try one of those weight gain powder drinks that you can buy in places like holland and barretss they contain the right mixes i think

though youd best off speaking to a dietician

you don't need to eat meat. you can get protein from vegetables (but you need to eat a big portion), bread, rice, pasta, nuts, seeds, pulses, fruit, milk and eggs

i think the reason you keep getting sick is that you weigh too little, and your body doesn't have the resources to fight infections

i agree with what the others say - go to a doctor. hopefully they'll refer you to a nutritionist who can write you a meal plan to follow (which will be easier for you than trying to figure out how much to eat)

yeah definitely a doctor would help.

i suffered from anorexia for about a year... am only fully recovered now... or as far recovered as i can be... i got myself back to 'normal' by just eating properly... eat as many of your 5-a-day fruit & veg portions as you can and just generally try and eat the right things

even now i wonder what damage i did to my body - if you are 'fully' recovered, you should be able to un-do any damage that's already done.

Eating alone won't do it. Are you a boy or a girl? If you're a guy, you need to get a solid workout routine to build up some muscle mass, otherwise you're extra calories won't even go into fat. Working out won't do anything positive though if you don't do it properly, I would suggest looking at this website http://www.intense-workout.com/

I don't know much about weight gain for a girl, other than get on a good diet, eat what you can and exercise on a regular basis, I guess...

Pale, feeling weak, vegetarian...
Iron maybe? It is possible to get enough iron while being veggie but you'd have to go out of your way a bit more. But the doctors is probably a good idea too.
