Not allowed to give straight answers on here. But if you rewrite it as √2 * √2 * 5, it should be fairly obvious.

I got it its 10, i was struggling because i kept thinking it had to be in surd form

Ha I know wat u mean we have being doin it in maths recently and I kinda get Wats going on.......ish!I think if 5√2 was just timesd by 2 ud get non surd!

Multiplying the square root of anything by itself gives you the 'anything.' :smile: The squaring cancels the square root.

5√2 x √2 = 5 x √2 x √2 = 5 x 2 = 10.

5√2 x 2 = 5 x 2 x √2 = 10 x √2 = 10√2. (notice there's no square root sign on the second 2).
