HUmmm. I don't know. It's tuff making them think differntly. I say, give her a Lion Bar and tell her that it'll make her thin? Otherwise, i'm useless on this end. :frown:

it's very difficult to make her realise she is too thin or to get her to seek help, because acknowledging the problem is always the hardest, and the 1st step. just let her know you're there for her and that you care. that is really the best you can do. but please don't FORCE her to eat or do anything like that because it would just backfire.

hugs to her.

But I can't just stand there, tell her I love her and I'm there for her, and then watch her get worse and worse until she's taken out of school?

i know you cant just stand there, but until she sees the problem herself nothing will get through to her, anorexia is a disease of not only body but also mind, she should get proffesional help or go to a doctor and get checked out he will then make any referals ( if she does see a doctor make sure you check her pockets etc for weights of any kind so she can cheat the scales). like i said though it makes you feel helpless but she will have to realise and wake up to the reality of what she is doing to herself, as mentioned until she makes the first step of recognising the problem, there isnt alot that can be done.
what you could try is shocking her, browse the net for information such as the damage to her body and organs and how she could end up with brittle bones etc .shock therapy could make her wake up to it..but dont whatever you do show her pictures of anorexia, as anorexics call this thinsperation she will aspire to be that way hope this helps somehow. ..good luck you obviously care for her alot:smile:

using the internet doesnt work - i tried that when i was anorexic - you cant 'shock' her into making her realise quite that easy.

she just needs to eventually realise herself.

Help her, support her if she needs it and try and let her know she can talk to you about anything, cos when she does realise what she's doing to herself, she will NEED someone to help her, without having to ask someone, so when she realises and drops hints, just be there for her and help her if she wants it =]
