Has anyone done work experience at an architect's office, where, which company, what was it like, and how has it influenced you about your career decision, does it benefit university applications?!

Sort of, they were a surveyors who happened to have an architect with them who did work with them and private work. It was quite interesting but not exactly life-changing, though obviously architecture in London is probably a bit different to architecture in East Lancashire.

Yeah in year 10 i was placed in an architects for 2 weeks. Where i was made to organise the 'architects library', i think a concept which they invented purely for my pleasure. In the two weeks i went on 3 site visits which were midly entertaining, as the employees ****ged off the partner, mr X, who was an absolute ****. I 'helped' design a building, and photocopied loads.

All in all it was terrible, and it made me realise how much i dont want to be an architect. Hope u have fun tho. Because i do live in Yorkshire, where they dont build too many exciting things.

I've done two separate weeks. i loved it! It was so interesting and really made me want to study architecture. the best one was at an architecture firm who specialise in green and community based architecture. i think they helped my personal statement and my interview at cambridge. (i got an offer! )

You should try designing power stations and dams instead. Much more interesting than designing houses with insulation made from recycled cardboard.

my other 'sister' talked me out of doing architecture, she works for Nicolas Grimshaw and gets around 150,000 pounds a year, not bad I reckoned, but apparently to be licenced as a proper architect takes a long time and a lot of stuffing around.
