Hi!
I've completed my personal statement and have decided that I want to apply to Manchester Met, Sheffield Hallam and Birmingham for Physiotherapy - However I cant find any other universities I'm keen on for Physiotherapy - I was interested in KCL but have really gone off it,

I was originally going to apply for Sport & Exercise science or Sport Science with English (Loughborough), so my personal statement can work for those courses too..

..As physiotherapy is such a competitive course, would it be worth applying to 1 or 2 universities for Sport & Exercise science in addition to physio as a back up plan?

My predicted grades aren't a problem, as I haven't seen any sport & exercise science or physiotherapy course exceed my predicted grades,
I just wanted advice on wether it is a good idea to plan to apply for a back up course??

Also if anybody could recommend any other universities for Physiotherapy that would be great! I looked at Essex but the grades where suspiciously low so I dismissed it, I also don't want to leave in a smaller/seaside town such as Brighton or Bournemouth,

Hopefully, I would like to do a Msc to specialise in Sports Physiotherapy or Pediatrics
Thank you!!!!!!!!!

*Also I don't do A2 Level Biology but I did AS ( I do A2 PE ) Which has ruled out Oxford Brookes and Cardiff (2 universities I was really interested in )

I would say if all you can see yourself doing is physiotherapy dont apply to other courses as a back up, as the back up courses will look at your ps and realise that you dont really want to do those courses as your 1st choice.

I've cleverly worded my personal statement so it is applicable to physiotherapy and sport and exercise science, it works seriously!

As if I do S&E I will do a post-grad in physiotherapy, so I've mentioned things such as physiology, biomechanics and strength and conditioning which is applicable to both courses,

I am also involved in a lot of sport which also makes myself applicable, and am going to Africa on a physio/sport placement,

It's pretty difficult to make professional courses personal statements work perfectly for another course at the same time although i m sure you've done your best to, the more specific it can be the better especially as your ps is what will decide if you get an interview or not.
You need to make it clear how much you know about physiotherapy as a profession not just how much you find the muscloskeletal side of it interesting.
So i would say if its all you want to do I wouldnt apply for backups, worst case scenario you can always go through ucas extra or clearing and apply for sports science if you're not successful with 5 physiotherapy applications.

Besides I'm sure there's would be other universities you could choose for physiotherapy out there instead of picking sports science as a back up. I think huddersfield and liverpool, maybe nottingham could be possibilities? If you prefer cities to smaller towns they're certainly not small places.

Thank you! I think thats what I'll do - go through clearing/apply for sport science if 5 physiotherapy applications go wrong - I just need to find 2 more universities!
I'm not keen on Liverpool - But i will definitely look in to Huddersfield!

I would say go for all physio. I had the same problem but if you don't get in they can offer alternative courses or you could apply again the year after or even go for clearing for other courses. you will be fine
