They just give you a £25 ipod for the hell of it. Its a con somthing to with having to get loads of people interested first. The chances of getting one end up being somthing like 1 in 10,000.

    from an earlier thread:

It wouldn't work. Most of the Ipod / Mobilephone schemes are matrix schemes, which while not as bad a pyramid schemes are still not self sustaining. The con is that you don't need 20 people to joing to get the i pod - you need 20 x the number of people already in the queue. And the longer the queue is, the less likely anyone else is going to join.

Assume it takes 20 people for one person to get the phone. 1 person signs up and then 19 more. The first person now gets his phone. But the 20th person to sign up needs 200 people to sign up to get his phone. It is unlikely 200 people would join the list, but lets say they did. for the 200th person to get their phone they need 4000 sign ups. and for the 4000th person - 80000 sign ups - thats more members than UKL has! It's not as bad as a pyramid scheme or a multi level matrix (both of which are often illegal) but it's still pretty difficult to keep the list going.

If you get in quickly (say top 5) then you might have a chace (this would require 100 sign ups) though above that you are unlikely to get a product. And if you do, you are benefiting from all those lower down in the queue who never will...
