Inablity to sleep

hey guys, for the past couple of days i was unable to sleep at night...I am usually awake the whole night till morning...this just suddenly started a couple of days back...no clue whatsoever to the problem...

my regular sleeping time is like I sleep for abt an hour and a half in the afternoon..then arnd 10 or 11pm I go t sleep and wake up at around 6 or 7...

This is my usual time table which i followed my whole life...but i find that I can sleep in the afternoons very easily...BUT NOT NIGHTS...

do u guys have any ideas for this "insomnia" like phase?

Try going one day without your afternoon nap, even if it means going to bed on a night a bit earlier. It may just be a phase of insomnia - my friend often has trouble sleeping, but she's got used to it now. Try exercising during the day, or not eating much after about 9pm. Hopefully you might feel a bit more tired then.

Sleep well, hopefully!

I'd advise you try to stop sleeping during the day and to get more exercise. It's pretty hard not to sleep after getting a good hour of proper aerobic exercise.

never sleep in the afternoons. works perfectly for me

exactly, never allow yourself naps...

I can't sleep anyway though:p: Don't think I've slept for more than 7hrs per night for four weeks, with a few all-nighters. And the sleep I've got is like 3/8am 9am/2pm...

it's 4:30am and i'm still awake :frown:
Just thought i'd let everyone know... for some reason...

try not to have afternoon naps. Keep sleeping for night time only. And incorporate some exercise..if you're not already.

Exercise is a good way to tire yourself out. Saying that, I often go to the gym but end up staying awake until the early hours. Every now and then I pull all nighters to get myself back on track (like tonight, or should that be this morning...).

Food after 9 is a bad thing too, the digesting will keep you up.

Yep, all this advice is good and I'd also recommend a nice night cap of honey tea with milk or something before you go to sleep, calcium is known to calm nerves.

Ok it sounds geeky but trust me it works

i'm an appalling sleeper, my whole family is.
i sleep about 7 hours max a night.

i guess what i'd say is, [which has helped me]...
don't sleep during the day.
baths before sleep.
a good exercise during the day.
and one thing that has worked is bananas...
although they give you energy, they help you sleep, so one in the morning, has helped me.
and for me, i can't sleep in light, so wear eyeshades!!
i went to the doctor for some advice as i was struggling so much.
