Liverpool Nightlife

To all people applying to Liverpool University:

WELL DONE!

It seriously does have the best nigh-life in the country as I when i have been visiting my mates at uni's in Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Bristol and Newcastle it really came out on tops!! (I'm on a GAP year before I head to Notts in Sept)

I live on the Wirral, just across the River Mersey so couldnt really be accused of being biased.

The city centre is such a perfect size and compact that each club are all next to each other and selection of music and clubs is just overwhelming.

There is a really great bar/lounge/samba scene The Tea Factor, el Ama de Cuba, Revolution, brilliant electro hot spots the Bar Fly (which is the birth place of Chibuku and Masque which now feature heavily in London), the Magnet, the Lemon Lounge, the BEST funky house spots i have ever been to, Society and Garlands and all the usual hip hop/rnb/chain places aswell. Rock places are everywhere too, Magnet, Barlfly, Zanzibar, Korova, Le Bateau, Heeby Jeebies and La'go which is more motown i guess.

And not forgetting the worlds first superclub...Cream. Need I say more?
The atmosphere is so electric as well...i love it.

If you like celebrity spotting you will not be disappointed either! The Albert Dock is a guaranteed celeb haunt, also the News Bar, Heebie Jeebies and Korova is where the Zutons hang out, Nicola from Girls Aloud is always in Mood, Andy Scott Lee has been in mood a few times, all the footballers go to Mood and the Albert Dock and everyone from Hollyoaks, Grange Hill and the now defunct Brookside are at the ALbert Docks or News Bar.

Just thought id let you all know about it so you feel more confident in your choice of Liverpool.

theres the carling academy (and the carling academy 2), loads of bands play actually at the uni too!! so for live music liverpools pretty good! a lot of the indie bands play there which is good
for big bands there is no big stadium, but manchester is close by train (about 45 mins ish!) for bigger bands.

It's true about the Raz; you either love it or you hate it! I love it, but just because you go there and are guaranteed to know people once you get there, it's just full of Liverpool Uni students! However, I must admit it's not the nicest of places... I think I'd rather be at Le Bateau.

Also, any southern faries like me who are used to prices down south; it's so cheap!

if you like indie or can just about bare it -le bateaus not 2 bad of a place

Le Bateau is brilliant on a Friday night. I never get bored of it...unlike the Raz which I've stopped going to now; the music is a bit repetitive and they water down your drinks something shocking (used to enjoy it though!!).

So, yeah, Le Bat is great for indie lovers and Krazy House is pretty good. They have a Barfly and there's quite a few small gigs there. Korava does that too. To be honest, if you look, you'll find gigs. Of course, there's always the guild itself and Carling Acadamy. Good live music scene in Liverpool!!

I know, I haven't been since before Easter! Aww I do miss it. Maybe I just over-did it last term. Don't think I even made it to the Raz on pubgolf night...I vaguely remember stopping for pizza and not making it any further? Don't even start me on 122, I'm freaking out! Trying to do a bit of 123 at the same time and I can't keep it all in :frown: xox

Really excited about coming now, am into my Indie so sounds like Liverpool have it sorted, spesh with the Academy to cater for live music!

Is Cream still in Liverpool? I heard it closed down or something?

I can't wait for Chibuku nights, got a few flyers I picked up on open days etc and the lineups are rather sweet, Pendulum, DJ Yoda, Digitalism, Soulwax/2manyDJs, Annie Mac etc etc.... Just my sort of stuff  can't wait!

Don't forget pound a pint at their sister pub on Thursdays, the Hope and Anchor. That of course is rivaled by the Raz prices. But Hope and Anchor smells nicer.
