Yeah, every time I have a 9am lecture :p:

My brain is like a hard drive with infinite storage - I just happen to get a lot of read errors from a faulty read-write head :frown:

The more you know, the more you know you don't know. The more you know you don't know the less intelligent you feel. So in fact you are getting cleverer you just don't realise it.

Yep, I peaked when i was in Year 9. Terrible teaching ensued, by GCSE time I couldn't be arsed, A Levels I'd rather be hammered all the time, and who knows what the degree will bring but it doesn't look good. :s-smilie:

I'm still at school and i feel stupider every day

try working in tesco full time, then you really realise how much intelligence you're losing!!

I was looking at my little sister's 4th year maths stuff when I went home a few weeks ago. I didn't have a clue what it all meant...I got an A* in GCSE maths. Slightly worried over that.

(I mean 4th year as in senior school, not primary. Sorry, having never been to a state school, I'm not entirely sure what that is in state school terms. Too much effort to work it out.)

When I was at primary school I was top of the class but then at secondary school (it was a grammar school) I was almost bottom of the class! How intelligent you feel is to do with how intelligent the people around you are. So...make some stupid friends and you'll be fine!

People used to think I was quite clever, but over last few years, ive just become no good at learning stuff and I forget everything these days!
And then all my friends seem to all be so smart, just makes me feel incredibly stupid!

... or thicker as some people would say:smile: It's been 3 years since I was at school and I just cannot remember alot of the stuff I learnt. It's not a good feeling and I feel as though my mind was sharper and broader at school. I suppose it's because my brain isn't working as hard these days, I work full time:smile:

I'd love to pm with you because this is what i am feeling. However i try to change jobs every 5 minutes when i get bored. There are people there that get into a rut and well you get alot of people that just gossip all day. I want to excerise my mind but you cant do that at work. I think you should do a working holiday or something. It makes you think alot about life. Life is about learning about the world we live in, well actually it is just what you make it and the world amazes me.

In the context of this discussion, probably not...

haha.

I've left school now, but I still like to learn about things. Unlike school though, now I'm learning about things which I'm interested in and that are useful to me, rather than being forced to do crap like trigonometry that I know I'll never use. I actually feel sharper and more focused that I ever did at school.

I don`t have any aspartame or MSG in my diet and I eat plenty of omega3. If I get alzheimers i`m gonna be pissed!

my brain is like a sponge - it soaks up info really quite easily - very handy for winning quizzes, not good for making info i need clear. HOWEVER, after a long holiday, esp. summer, I cant work or remember like I can right now - not used to using my brain i suppose

I felt like that when I first started uni. Wasn't the smartest cookie any more and there was noone on my back making me work so my brain got really rusty.

Noticed it a lot after 2 years that I just couldnt form arguments like I used to, see how arguments linked together etc... all the things I used to be able to do that stretched me a bit.

But then realised academia isn't my forte and starting developing a passion for other stuff and in talking about them developed my brain so I think I'm getting back on track. But yeah you just need to make sure you're constantly being challenged.

I work in Tesco's part time, just one day a week and it feels like every ounce of intelligence i may have has been sucked out of me. I admire people who can work there full time...or even more than one day a week.

To an extent. I'm losing my grip on foreign languages & haven't a clue about the properties of argon, but I know & understand more about the world around me. Is this become more stupid or less stupid?

It's more useful to me than the former state though, so I'm not complaining .

Everytime I learn something new I realise that there's something else I don't know about; and this makes me feel generally inadequate :s-smilie:

I panic a bit when i get more to do at work than i'm used to! i've had to work my brain a lot more recently cos im on customer services now and it's not mindless like being a till bitch used to be!
