Burn on my forehead...

Last night I was straightening my hair and they slipped and now I have about a three inch long burn which goes up from the top of my eyebrow into my hair line.
I have burnt myself before but never like this, the actually burn doesn't hurt anymore but the skin around it is very tender. The burn doesn't seem to have blistered instead it feels like there is thin tracing paper-type skin covering it.

I'm not sure what to do with it...should I put something on it or just leave it?

If you have any burn gel, put that on it. Perhaps a cotton gauze if anything, but nothing that will make it chafe.

^Ditto.
Just be careful because it is in quite a visible place.

What is burn gel? I only have savlon, but I'm feeling wary of putting it on as I don't want to take the little bit of skin left off.

Also I know its in a visable place...it looks like someone has clubbed me across the face :frown:
You could also try very gently applying some vaseline... the sort with aloe vera is especially soothing on burns.

in that case I would use vaseline as the person above said, or savlon, but very thinly. Do not put any makeup on it to hide it, that will probably make it ract and become even more obvious.
Don't put anything on it! I burn myself all the time and you just need to let your skin heal naturally. It will be there for a long time, we're talking months here, so try to get used to it for a while, but never cover it up as this will prevent healing. Don't touch it as even the faintest of touches can damage damaged skin further. Don't put make-up on the area either. You might not like the sound of that, but what's better, four months without make-up or a permanent scar on your face? I know which I'd prefer

Do you assume because I am a girl I am going to cry about not being able to wear make-up?
I already guessed that was out of the question...I spent 4 months in flipflops last year because of 3rd degree burns to my feet and legs from a quad bike accident.

i would definitely say put vaseline on it, because that protects it from any scraping of hair or your fingernail accidentally. It kind of forms like a second skin layer. Burn gel is even better, but if you don't have that then vaseline is the next best thing.

Also I wasn't assuming that you were dependant upon makeup :p: I just said it because since it's in such a visible place oyu may have been tempted to conceal it

No, it was the idiot poster after you. I'm going to take a trip down to the pharmacy to see what they suggest as it goes into my hairline too.

lol ok. Good luck at the pharmacy. I'm sure they will think of something effective
