MEI Stats 2 watch

1. did anyone get the last question???? 66p?
2. lol did u guys get a and b as 14 (or was it 19?) and 40?
3. i didnt get a and b, the one question i really fluffed up

as for the 66p - i did that just by writing out all 10 combinations of 3 coins, then doing sum(px)

yeah u do E(x) for each outcomes with i think is 30, 50, 70, 80 and its like 1/5 for each.. which comes to 66p

oh well...it was only 2 marks I got in such a tangle with that!!

just trying to think of all the other q's which I screwed up...*thinks*

with that frequencies one...compare it with the poisson's estimate (q2) did you get a fairly accurate comparison?

And also the one with the "underlying distribution assumption" for 1ii) what did u write?

I liked the fact that I didn't have to do a graph with this paper...only thing I did like about it
11. Well I accepted the Null, cos the PMCC value I got was lower than the critical on the 2 tailed test, which im asuming was right?!
My teacher told me afterwards that it was a one tailed test because the graph indicated positive linear correlation.

The value from the tables was 0.3365 and my calculated value was 0.359, so i accepted H1
12. lol yeah i hate scatter diagram stuff lol i always make a stoopid mistake

the underlying one i got rong.. it was a bivariate normal distrubution

yeah well accurate results i was like the same for 2 values and a difference of 1 for the other 2...

it was 1-tail?!!! yr jokin!

reason being...the first sentence said the man was trying to see if there was ANY correlation
15. hmm i used the 2 tail test both times even after theyve given u the new data value...

i think its 2 tail test for part i
and a 1 tail for part iii

i got 0.355 as the coefficient - not 0.359 - that might just be rounding errors though!?

i didnt do another test for part iii, i just said that the distribution is no longer normal, so the test is invalid.
