HSBC clearing times

I have an HSBC livecash or whatever account is for 16-17 year olds and today around 4pm paid in some cash and cheques (for the first time on the account)

I expected the cash to be available immediately but I just accessed my internet banking and it is not there!

I thought cash is cleared and added to accounts immediately?! Any ideas how long it will take for funds from cash to appear (just £20).

Thank you

I paid it in over the counter and I put it on the same paying in slip...

Great! so its going to take 5 days to get the cash?!

I only paid in the cash intentionally so it could be available straight away because I know cheques take so long.

BUT

I got a receipt for the cash pay in which was £20 and not the cheque pay in which was 2 x cheques at £15 each...

The cash SHOULD clear the next day, so you MIGHT have it tomorrow. I have the same account, and when I paid in a cash and cheques, I'm sure the cash cleared the next day, and the cheques a few days later. However, I'm not entirely sure (hence the should and might!)

I have a livecash account and when paying in a cheque, it appears immediately and you can even access the funds. Rather trusting of them.

That's funny, because mine doesn't- bastards obviously don't trust me... mine takes the five days to clear. That's really odd that- because technically they don't have the money, so it would be rather daft of them to do it!

well, I do have a fair amount of money in the account(and it coming in regularly too) and I've never gone overdrawn so maybe that's why - I suppose I could still just withdraw everything and run but to a bank anything I had would still be nothing

I agree, cash rules, cheques are annoying. They take so long, and it's not even the most secure way with regards to send money now internet banking and paypal have come about

my cheques clear in about a day now because my original branch closed down and so my sort code doesnt actually relate to a branch anymore so cheques just go thru way quicker lol coz they havent got to be sent anywhere its wicked.

hsbc don't trust me that much tho lol, and i've been with that same account since i was 6 good old days of "the midland bank", that said i do go overdrawn a bit right in the middle of the month when pay day is really far away lol
