Am I being unreasonable?

I play football for a womens team, and after last sundays football match I managed to slighty pull my hamstring :-( I then had to play football for my school on wednesday where I really did do myself an injury and had to go off after the first 5 minutes. Over the past few days it hasnt got much better and is still painful to walk. I text my coach on wednesday night and said I wouldnt be at training and that I'd let him know about this Sundays match closer to the time, as there was no point in my saying that I could/couldn't play on sunday there and then. This morning I woke up and it was still as bad as it was the previous few days, so I text my coach and said that I was sorry but that I wouldnt be able to play because it's still not good at all etc, good luck and that I would come and watch. His reply was: thats you and two others now. This text p***ed me off slighty, so I replied back: i'd play if I could but I can hardly walk without it hurting let alone run. His response: girls, I've had a few drop outs through injury now, all today. as we have (name) suspended and (other name) long term injured it leaves us really short, can u at least do me a favour and come along at 1 and we can look then to see how bad they are then, thanks. Im 100% that I couldnt play a full match, and 95% sure that I couldnt last half a match. I don't want to play and then end up damaging it anymore than it already is and be out for another match. Am i unreasonable to think that this isn't a valid reason for me not playing? Also, I've only missed 2 matches this season, and the girl that cant play because she is suspended, punched another girl in the head (nice :-S)
anyway enough ramble, what do people think?
thanks,
x x

the reason your coach is pissed off is because you dropped out the day before. he only wants you to turn up dont forget, he doesnt even necessarily want you to play, so just go along tomorrow, and you will gain the coach's respect for turning out for the team. xxx

Yeah give your team some moral support if nothing else, I don't think your coach meant it as bad, but if you can't play then it's not your fault.

I'd definatly go down and watch no matter what. I just dont see the point of goin there at 1 for me to say yea I can't play and then having to sit there for 2 and three quarter hours. I just phoned him and he said that I have to go so that he can decide whether I can play or not :-S

Well surely if your hamstring is gone, you cannot possibly play.

exactly, there is no point, but he either wasn't listening to what I was saying, or he is incredibly stupid today:mad:

Well he ain't a very good coach then if he ain't listening to you, suppose he wants to find out for himself how bad it is, but he does seem to be being a bit unfair to me.

Just tell him straight, no, you are not going to play, you aren't going to risk worsening your injury, but you will be along at x time to support the others. Hope you feel better soon!
