Parents telling me I'm fat!

Ok i come home for a couple of weeks from uni for reasons that i shall not go into cos they are irrelevant not personal. From the moment i get home tot he moment i leave all they do is comment on my appearance and tell me i'm fat, the only nice thing my mother has said to me is my skin looks slightly better as if my skinb was bad in the first place which it wasn't. I don't think i'm fat, the scales tell me i am a tiny little bit overweight, but i know i don't look fat. Not trying to be mean to my close friends but in my little group of three (me, my best friend and my boyfriend) i am the thinnest and lightest. I do do a reasonable amount of exercise, i dance three times a week and walk almost everywhere and i don't eat a huge amount of junk food. So why do why parents always insist on telling me i'm fat?

Dont worry about it... Its what parents do. Just ignore it and look forward to getting back to uni.

My parents did this to me too. Then when I was almost put into hospital as I weighed around 6 stone they gave it up... just don't listen, parents are people like everyone else and like people they can be idiots.

Look them in the eye and say you'd rather they kept their personal comments to themselves as you find it unkind and hurtful.

And then leave the room.

They prob think they're just chatting....sigh...

Hah, just pick up on their insecurities in turn.

"Not looking so thin yourself there mum. I think I spy a few more wrinkles."

"I think you're losing more hair dad."

They're just worried about you. You're at uni, so they have no idea what you're eating, whether you're healthy etc, its all out of their control. Just reassure them that you're happy with the way you are and they'll stop over time.

Gr. my parents are doing the same thing, everytime I come home they feel the need to say I've lost weight..but they fail to realise I have actually put on weight

Parents!

My parents are the opposite. My Mum and Step-Dad take great pleasure in saying I'm too thin, yet the scales (and even my Doctor) tell me that I'm perfectly healthy for my height. It's only the parents that ever complain, and I've taken to ignoring them/responding that I'm healthy, and that if they don't like it, then tough luck on them because I'm not changing!

Anyhoo... As long as you're happy, just ignore them. No good will come of them complaining unless you're unhappy with your own weight, in which case I'd assume that you'd do something about it.
