Couldn't you just Google this? Sorry if that sounds unhelpful but this is a pure recall question the answer to which is easily available from any biology textbook or even Wikipedia.

Briefly: It plays a key role in synthesising ATP, the energy-carrier molecule, from glucose during respiration.

Mictochondria is used for respiration in cells,Wikipedia says this: "The most prominent roles of mitochondria are to produce the energy currency of the cell, ATP (i.e., phosphorylation of ADP), through respiration, and to regulate cellular metabolism. The central set of reactions involved in ATP production are collectively known as the citric acid cycle, or the Krebs Cycle."
