Hey guys!

I'm an international application 2016 for PPE. I was also thinking of applying to St Andrews (Eco&IR) and Edinburgh (PE). Do you think I will have problems with my Personal statement? Should I speak briefly about IR? Won't Edinburgh make me an offer for having talked about philosophy??

thank u all

My son applied for PPE at Oxford with a PPE-focused personal statement, but his second choice course was straight philosophy at St Andrews - and they made him an offer. Can't speak for Edinburgh, but you could always ask them. A few universities allow you to submit a second PS in situations like this, such as Durham

He graduated last summer (but in history). Philosophy dept was fine, I think - he just decided at the end of first year he'd had enough of it and preferred history. The great advantage of the Scottish system is that you normally have to do 3 subjects in the first and second year (not just the one or two subjects you applied for), and then if you fancy one of those more than your original subject at admission you can just switch, no questions asked. People do this all the time, great flexible system that allows people to discover new subjects and change their minds.

If you're an application, how are you typing this post? Surely you should be worried about being exposed online, with UCAS plagiarism detectors and all.
