The Student Room Group

i think its getting obvious or am i being paranoid?

right, i think im a little insecure about my social life. i go out with my friend or friends on average of 2-4 times a week. just to town or their house. i have a group of friends- i do have friends - just a few very close friends but they are in none of my lessons. im invited to a party and clubbing next month so i shouldnt really be complaining right? but its for the first time really.
in lessons i make the effort to socialise with ppl in my class but they dont seem to want to get to know me they give me horrible looks and blank me.
im nearly 17 btw.
and well im getting the feeling i get along with teachers better than ppl my own age. i think even my teachers think im a bit lonely, for yesterday when i was by myself, one of them invited me to join the teachers for lunch. and well when i entered the classroom the other week my teacher gave me a hug...i think they feel sorry for me. well its either that or they like me an awful lot...
i dont really know what to say i guess i want people to be more friendly really and also i want to be more sociable but i dont know how to. also im just want to be reassured that my social life is fine really...

You've got more than I ever had at school socially, and what you have sounds pretty normal to me...it could be far worse.

lol don't be so old fashioned! Yeah good luck, it seems to me that English clubs aren't easy to get into borrow someone's ID if you can (eg older cousin, mate's brothers or something), just anyone who looks vaguely like you. And when you go out, do shots, a sociable and team-bonding activity.

do you think i really should be worrying? shouldnt i be with people my own age rather than getting along better with teachers sometimes?

There's nothing wrong with getting along well with teachers, but I would be a bit worried by the fact that your teachers are reaching out to comfort you so much and the way the other students respond when you talk to them.

lol i wasn't being old-fashioned, i had really dodgy fake id when i was 16 and never had to use it, then practically the second i turned 18 all the clubs started tightening their admission proceedures and nowadays i'd imagine it would be pretty hard for underaged people to get into a club so the OP's friends really shouldn't be judging him/her for not going clubbing with them.

S'all i was saying.
