Not surew about comparing to medicine, but i'm guessing the hours are LONG...
Typically hours are 9-5 in clinics and learning with gaps for breaks... for throughout the 5 years... but 1st few years are not so heavy loaded....

Dentistry (as well as medicine) is not an easy course... As far as i know, its another big step up from A2, and involves alot of dedication and hard work...

Personally i don't find the course boring at all... I'm all for dentistry, and its something i really want to do...

Do you get degree classifications for dentistry eg. 1st or 2:1 or is it just pass/fail like in medicine??

simple question. is the course boring and is it that hard? how many hours per week lectures?
how does the course compare to medicine and optometry???

noone can really tell you whether its boring or hard. everyones different and will find different areas more interesting or difficult than others. do your research, get some work experience and decide for yourself.

I think cardiff is the only dental school where you can get a 1st or 2:1..

Yeah cardiff is the only school where you can get an honours degree i.e 1st or 2:1 as I was told many times throughout my interview day by them!
How about just the first year? How many hours lectures per week and is i really a huuuuge jump from A2? Also, does anyone have any info on the foundation year? Someone at Cardiff told me its basically a complete doss, but I heard from someone at Kings that its really challenging. Maybe its a different foundation year scheme between the two since Cardiffs ucas code for 6 year dentistry is A204 whereas Kings is A203...? But yeah, anyone have any info?

thanks for the replies. 9-5 is pretty heavy infact too heavy. thats like workign full time and then doing private studies out of class. how on earth do people have time for leisure or a social life? what about time to cook food and perhaps even earn a living to pay the rent?

lol, i don't think cooking will be too bad, and NOOOO Dentistry is a full time course! (so is medicine) you will never be able to get a part time job! lol... and within the 9-5, i'm sure theres breaks and times for private studies...

For paying rent, you'll have to get a loan or something, but I don't think anyone will be able to cope gettin a job on top... AS said before, Dentistry is not an easy course.... so you need to be 100% sure you want this career and you are dedicated!
