Of sorts...I'm working on it! What subject are you going for? Do you know what college you will be staying in?

Sounds interesting. How big a commitment is it if you want to teach? I've done a bit of teaching at school and loved it, assuming I meet my grades (AAB ) this is definitely something I'd consider getting involved in.

I'm not teaching on it - students are hired for pastoral care and general day to day tasks. The teaching is done by the university fellows and lecturers! I've been getiing involved in lots of access and admissions stuff - this is really just an extension of that. The commitment is nothing more than any other holiday job - it is all outside of term time so does not impact on any academic commitments

Shame. Though I suppose it's not that surprising - Oxford's dons are its best resource after all.

I did the sutton trust just after my ASs, and it was totally brilliant, so you'll probably have a fantastic time

And it would defeat the point of providing some sort of insight into uni life if the teaching was done by undergrads...

I sent off my application for the Law summer school at Teddy Hall ages ago. But I haven't heard anything in reply - should I contact them?

And I was wondering, is the scheme oversubscribed and how much will it boost my chances of gaining a place?

Is this what you applied for? http://www.diffusion-design.co.uk/access/proyear12.php#lpe It is totally separate to the Sutton Trust and will be administered by different people. If you haven't heard anything at all it can't hurt just to contact someone and ask when you are likely to be told.

Yep, that's where I applied. I spent ages filling in the form as well, they better not have rejected me, lol. I know that these schemes vary, but are GCSE grades and predicted AS-level grades used to whittle people down, or are you guaranteed a place?

I really don't know - sorry. As it is run by the Access Scheme, I imagine that part of the selection process will be how eligible you are under their criteria, but perhaps not. It says it is a new course, so there is relatively little information to go on.

Thankyou. On a side note, I intend to apply for Law at prestigious unis, will it count against me that I have done no work experience?
I helped out in my first year, and it was a brillent experience, really fun, and the kids got so much out of it - if the chance arose I would certainly do it again.
I'm going to the week 2 math at oxford.

hmmmmm you helped out in your first year? *does quick calculation* well you're a finalist now, on a 3 year course... that means you helped out on it the same year i was a student on it!

It would of been summer 2002, so this years Freshers. Very enjoyable, very interesting too, I meet more genres of people in 2 weeks than I did in 13 of schooling - so it was nearly as worthwhile for me as it was them.

I was at Balliol, and was working with the History lot - even though that isn't my degree course.

Sorry to hear about that, but it's very competitive, an often very able students get turned away. They only have room and funding for 315 students, unfortunatly.
